We received the cufflinks from Shapeways earlier this week. They told us that they would take 4-6 weeks, but despite the distance (Netherlands to US) it only took 2.
We were very interested in two things:
1. Did they feel sturdy (heavy and solid)
2. What was the resolution (were the details sharp and clean)
We were more excited about getting the box from Shapeways than we were for any other sample purchase and happily, we remain excited about the prospect of 3D printing after seeing the cufflinks.
They are heavy. They feel sturdy and they are interesting. The color, sort of a dark, patina’d bronze, is interesting and looks like a high-end piece.
The resolution is a bit rough, but considering the matt finish and the old bronze look, it works. I would feel very good about giving these as a gift.
